SBI Group Leads Private Round in Temple Digital Group

May 20th 2026 - New York City
SBI Group announced today that it is leading a strategic round in Temple Digital Group, the leading institutional exchange on the Canton Network. The investment deepens SBI Group’s existing commitment to Canton and directly supports SBI Group’s expansion into RWAs and digital asset trading infrastructure.
Temple, the number one featured application on the Canton network by network revenue, is taking on new capital as it expands its product suite and prepares to list regulated markets in the second half of 2026. Temple Digital Group will be one of the first non-custodial trading platforms that takes full advantage of privacy, real-time settlement, and composability across financial applications with the ability to list and trade traditional market instruments.
The investment reflects a close strategic alignment between the organizations. SBI Group, one of Japan's largest financial institutions serving over 50 million customers, has spent years building end-to-end solutions for digital asset. As a founding partner and super validator of the Canton Network, SBI Group has been instrumental in driving real-world institutional adoption across the ecosystem. As SBI Group leads a major consortium to launch regulated, 24/7 tokenized equity trading in Japan and internationally, backing Temple is a natural extension of that strategy.
Canton Network has emerged as the institutional blockchain of choice for global capital markets. DTCC, the central clearinghouse for U.S. securities markets, is partnering with Digital Asset to tokenize DTC-custodied U.S. Treasury securities on Canton, with broader rollout expected in the second half of 2026. The network now supports over $6 trillion in onchain assets across more than 600 institutions, with participants including Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Broadridge, Franklin Templeton, and Euroclear. As tokenized traditional assets come to market at scale, the demand for institutional-grade trading infrastructure on Canton becomes critical.
To support Canton’s growing ecosystem, Temple recently launched Lightspeed, a performance upgrade delivering sub-second matching and support for 100,000 orders per second — making it one of the fastest trading engines on Canton's Global Synchronizer.
“There is a great deal of synergy between SBI and Temple - we both see the immense potential of Canton and how it will affect financial market infrastructure in the coming years. By joining forces we can bring our shared vision to life” Says Evan Varsamis, CEO and Co-Founder of Temple Digital Group.
“SBI is on the cutting edge of innovation when it comes to emerging capital markets technologies. With SBI joining us in this strategic round, Temple brings on a long term partner committed to the same vision for emerging financial market infrastructure.” Says Dan Simerman, CSO and Co-Founder of Temple Digital Group.
“SBI Group has long recognized the transformative potential of the Canton Network and has been deeply committed to its growth as a founding partner and Super Validator. Temple stands out as the premier trading platform on Canton, its sub-second matching and privacy-first architecture deliver exactly the kind of institutional-grade infrastructure the ecosystem needs. This investment reflects strong strategic alignment with SBI Group's expanding digital asset business, and we believe Temple is well positioned to become essential market infrastructure as tokenized assets scale across global capital markets.” Says Juan Manuel Gomez, General Manager of SBI Holdings, Inc.
